This collection of Poe’s Tales of Mystery and Imagination contains twenty-five of Edgar Allan Poe’s best short stories of the mysterious and macabre, illustrated in fabulous detail by famous illustrator Arthur Rackham.
Poe was a famous writer from the 19th century who is most notably known for his curious and grim short stories, and Rackham’s delightfully dark and detailed illustrations perfectly compliment his work.
Our copy of Poe’s Tales was published in 1935 by George G. Harrap & Co. It includes twenty-five of Poe’s stories and twenty-nine of Rackham's illustrations on plates: seventeen in black and white and twelve in full colour!
The book’s end papers with a skeletal design and the original dust jacket with skulls, shadows and ghosts are perfect companion designs for Poe’s writing. The dust jacket itself is slightly ripped on the top of the spine, but the rest is in good condition and is in a plastic sleeve to protect it.
Rackham’s illustrations are wonderfully evocative of Poe’s creepy tales and the pairing of them in this book makes a fantastic collection piece or one to read and immerse yourself in. It is being sold for £425.
