Published by Hodder and Stoughton (c.1910), this book contains four classic fairy tales: Sleeping Beauty, Blue Beard, Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast. These stories have been translated from the Old French and retold by Arthur Quiller-Couch.

However, the stand-out feature of this book is the thirty, full-page colour illustrations by Edmund Dulac that accompany these perennial tales.

This book is the first illustrated edition of this edition, and has been bound in a beautiful reddish-brown leather, with gold gilt titling and decoration on the spine, and on the front and back boards. The book itself is in good condition, with limited foxing on the interior pages and only some slight rubbing on the corners of the spine.

Dulac and Quiller-Couch’s combined artistry makes this book a great gift, or a delightful piece for a children’s first library or an adult collector. It is being sold £285.
