The Sleeping Beauty and Other Fairy Tales by A.T. Quiller-Couch

This first edition was published by Hodder & Stoughton, London, in 1910, and retains its original publisher’s cloth binding. Bound in dark red cloth, the book features elaborate gilt decoration depicting floral and angelic motifs across the front and rear boards and spine. The cohesive and elegant design beautifully complements the enchanting subject matter of the fairy tales within.
The volume is complete with 30 tipped-in colour illustrations by Edmund Dulac, renowned as one of the great illustrators of the Golden Age of Illustration. His distinctive, dreamlike watercolour and gouache style brings the magical narratives to life, capturing key moments from each tale. Each illustration is protected by a tissue guard, and all remain bright and clean.
The collection includes beloved fairy tales such as The Sleeping Beauty, Blue Beard, Cinderella and The Beauty and the Beast. The pages remain bright and clean throughout. Although the hinges show slight wear, the binding remains tight and secure overall.
Overall, the book remains in excellent condition and would make a wonderful addition to a collection of Edmund Dulac's illustrations, fairy tales or beautifully illustrated books.
It is being sold for £285.
