The volume comes in decorative contemporary binding, characteristic of the late 19th to early 20th century. It is bound in half vellum, with fine gilt tooling, while the remaining portions of the front and rear boards feature a muted brown and purple-toned marbled paper.

The top edge is gilt, adding to the decorative appearance of the volume. The vellum shows some age-related discolouration consistent with its age. The spine features vellum binding with fine gilt tooling and decorative floral embellishments. The applied title label is lettered in gilt. Overall, the exterior has the appearance of a deliberately decorative, characteristic of the Edwardian era.

Inside, the book features a frontispiece portrait of Tennyson, protected by a tissue guard. The endpapers display the same brown/purple marbled design. Despite some slight foxing throughout the book, the pages remain bright, clean and crisp, and the volume is complete, with pages 1–700 all present. The binding remains tight and secure, and the book is in pleasing condition for its age.

A handsome early 20th-century edition of Tennyson's poetry, particularly notable for its attractive period binding and decorative vellum finish.
