The Adventures of Tom Bombadil and other verses from The Red Book builds on the myths and legends (the legendarium) of the world of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings through a series of poems.
This book is a hardback, first edition, 3rd impression published in 1968 by George Allen and Unwin – they published almost all of Tolkien’s works.
Included are sixteen poems in various forms and metres that tell tales from the Tolkien universe, mainly through the character of Tom Bombadil, who was featured briefly in The Lord of the Rings.
The pages are adorned with drawings by Pauline Baynes, with a mix of coloured, and black and white illustrations, as well as a few full-page coloured artworks from Baynes also.
Our edition comes with its original dust jacket, which has some rubbing and creasing around the sides, but this is minimal and is now covered in a protected plastic.
The inside flap of the dust jacket describes The Adventures of Tom Bombadil as: ‘something that no devotee of the Hobbit epic can afford to miss.’ And we agree! This is a perfect book for any Tolkien fan or collector. It is being sold for £80.
We are also selling a first edition, 1st impression of this book (which you can view here), as well as other first editions and uncommon books from the world of Tolkien. Check out the rest of the books on our online showcase for more!
