Sidelights on Relativity, by Albert Einstein - First Edition

ree

Sidelights on Relativity is a fascinating follow-up work to Einstein’s previous (and iconic) book on the Theory of Relativity. The writings in this book are from lectures that Einstein gave in 1920 and 1921, and have been translated by G.B. Jeffery and W. Perrett.

The first lecture on ‘Ether and the Theory of Relativity’ was delivered on 5th May 1920 at the University of Leyden. The second lecture was on ‘Geometry and Experience’, but the text that is in this book is an expanded form of the address that Einstein gave to the Prussian Academy of Sciences in Berlin on 27th January 1921.

The book that was are selling was published in 1922 by Methuen and Co. and is the first English translation of this work. It is slimmer work than the other Einstein books that we have on sale (which you can find here and here), and has some marks, but minimal foxing on the pages. Even though the spine is faded, the title still stands out clear on a shelf!

Our copy of Sidelights on Relativity is the perfect book for those interested in physics, maths, scientific history, first editions, or books by iconic people, who don’t want to break the bank. It is being sold for £200.
