Handbound copy of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll

Mimicking the quirky and whimsical nature of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, comes this truly one-of-a-kind version of Lewis Carroll's most popular novel.

Completely handbound by a local binder, each letter on this eclectic, leather cover has been cut out, gilded, and pasted by hand. Not only this, but the marbled endpapers on the inside have been affixed by hand as well, and the whole book assembled by one man who binds books as a hobby.

The cover is utterly unique, and the inside is a special illustrated version of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by the Folio Society from 1961.

The illustrations are facsimiles of the original forty-two woodblock illustrations by John Tenniel from the first edition. Woodblock printing is where an image is carved onto a wooden block and then the raised surface is covered in ink before being pressed onto the paper to create the desired image. Macmillan & Co. (the first publishers of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland) provided the Folio Society with copies of the original pictures that accompanied the text in 1865. The Folio Society, in this edition, printed the photos in stunning monochrome red, with the details of Tenniel’s illustrations standing out brilliantly on the page.

This copy is a unique edition to add to any Alice in Wonderland collection, or an enchanting version for anyone wanting a one-of-a-kind book for their shelf. It is being sold for £175.
