Flowers of the Field (with original scarce dust jacket)

Flowers of the Field is the perfect compendium of wild flowers and other flora, with hundreds of revised descriptions accompanied by detailed illustrations.
This edition of Flowers of the Field is the fourteenth impression of Rev. C.A. Johns’ original work, fully revised and edited by Clarence Elliott, and published by George Routledge and Sons, Limited. Scattered throughout the pages are 245 woodcut drawings and 96 coloured, full-page illustrations by E.N Gwatin, enriching and complimenting the descriptions of various flowers and plants.
To the rear of the book, there is a glossary of botanical terms, and three different indexes: one for the English names of the flowers, one for the Latin names and one specifically for different varieties of pipe-worts, sedges and grasses.
The book comes with its original dust jacket, which is rare for this kind of book and for the period. The dust jacket is faded on the spine and is worn, but has no big rips or parts missing. Underneath, the green boards with gold titling and design show minimal signs of wear. There is slight foxing scattered throughout the book, but it doesn’t affect the readability of the pages or plates.
For all plant- and flower-lovers, or those who adore botanical illustrations, this book is a great addition to any shelf or collection. It is being sold for £40.
