Nadia. Amours russes, by 'Némo'

Nadia. Amours russes was written anonymously and published under the pseudo name ‘Némo.’ Although written in French, the novel is set in Russia and follows Russian characters involved in an erotic and sadomasochistic relationship. The work belongs to the late nineteenth and early twentieth- century tradition of clandestine French literature, in which works dealing with sexually transgressive subjects were often published discreetly or anonymously. Its clandestine origins and subject matter contribute to its sacristy and interest among collectors of rare and erotic literature.

This book was published in Montreal, Canada, in 1919 by Lebaucher, Librairie, Editeur. It has attractive crafted binding, quarter-bound-bound in leather with a marbled design covering the remaining portions of the front and rear boards. The spine features gilt titling and raised bands, while the endpapers are also marbled. Together, these elements create a striking and distinctive binding.

The volume is securely bound and shows very little wear. It features a muted green title page with orange-red lettering and decorative elements. The pages are bright and clean throughout, and the book has been well preserved, making it an attractive example of this scarce work.
