Fahrenheit 451, by Ray Bradbury, Numbered edition

Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury is a dystopian novel that presents a world in which books are outlawed, with firefighters burning books as a method of censorship. Guy Montag, disillusioned with his society, decides to break with the prevailing order and dedicate himself to the preservation of literary works. First published in 1953, Bradbury’s book has endured as a work of cultural significance and continued relevance; as a cautionary work, it stands firmly opposed to literary censorship and authoritarianism.

 This volume is published by Suntup Press in 2020 as a limited, numbered edition, #248/250. It is signed by Neil Gaiman, who wrote the introduction; Julia Griffin, the illustrator; and Jonathan R. Eller, who wrote the preface and compiled the historical backmatter.

The volume is complete with an introduction by Gaiman, Fahrenheit 451 Parts 1-3, a section on history, context and criticism, and three additional short stories by Bradbury: The Pedestrian, The Fireman and Response to a Librarian. The book contains six full-colour illustrations, including a colour frontispiece, all created by Julia Griffin.

The book comes in a dual-cloth slipcase featuring hot-foil stamping on the spine. The book itself is a hardback, quarter bound in Italian cloth, with decorative French marbled paper covers. The spine is hot-foil stamped and the text is printed on premium-quality Mohawk Superfine paper. The top edge is gilded in copper.

Both slipcase and book are in fine/as-new condition and is being sold at £500.
